Practical Nursing Instructors

Sumner College has educating students in the Portland area since 1974! The college has immediate openings for both FT and PT Instructors for our Practical Nursing Program. Sumner College is conveniently located off I-5 a few minutes from downtown Portland. FT posiion is Monday through Friday and PT positions range from 1 day a week to 3 days a week.

Requirements:
Minimum AAS
Unemcumbered OR Nursing License
Teaching experience preferred OR clinical preceptorship experience

Courses are in the morning and afternoon. FT benefits include: Paid time off, medical, dental, SIMPLE IRA retirement, and paid holidays.

Court Reporting Program Director

As the Court Reporting Program Director you are responsible for:

  • Acting as a support person for the Director of Education
  • Teaching and advising students
  • Scheduling classes: both academic and speed building
  • Submitting requests for education materials
  • Overseeing the grading and recording of passed tests
  • Ensuring that all grades and passed tests are sent to the registrar
  • Serving as a conduit to faculty from management of information
  • Student tracking and application of satisfactory progress policy
  • Participate in orientation
  • Curriculum development
  • Participate in graduation
  • Attend the Program Advisory meetings and Program Director meetings
  • Recruit, orientate and train faculty
  • Assist in student retention
  • Maintain knowledge of technological changes in the field
  • Conduct and document faculty meetings on a regular basis
  • Any other duties or special projects assigned by the Director of Education
  • Ensures all faculty have current and appropriate development plans and are making progress toward completion
  • Trains instructors to counsel students and ensure are students are counseled regularly
