Pioneer Pacific College Possible Transfer Options

Sumner College has initiated steps necessary to formalize a transfer agreement with the state of Oregon that will allow students in good standing the opportunity to transfer classes to our school. This type of transfer is called a ‘block transfer’, which allows more than 25% of coursework to be transferred to Sumner. This would benefit students as they can receive additional credit for classes completed up to this point. If you are interested in applying please complete the online application to start the admissions process: Transfer Application
You will need to request official copies of your transcript if you are interested in transferring to Sumner, or to any other school. An unofficial transcript or grade card will suffice at this time for us to evaluate your courses, but you will need an official to start classes. If you experience difficulty requesting transcripts we can work with you through this process.
Practical Nursing Program:
Our Practical Nursing Program is 5 terms (50 weeks) in length, and is quarter based (10 weeks); which aligns with the program Pioneer offers. We can evaluate the courses you have completed and let you know what courses would remain for you to complete to graduate. The Practical Nursing Program at Sumner College is approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) and the Department of Education. We are authorized by the Office of Degree Authorization (ODA) to award diplomas and degrees, and accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Medical Assisting Program:
Our Medical Assisting Program is 3 terms (30 weeks) in length, and is quarter based as well (10 weeks); which is a shorter program than the one offered at Pioneer. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to sit for the CMA (AAMA) Certification Exam. Only graduates of Medical Assisting Programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) are eligible to take the (AAMA) Certification Examination.
We will reduce the tuition of the program based on what classes transfer into our program. For courses to be eligible for transfer a grade of ‘C’ of higher must be earned. Additionally, students must take the Accuplacer entrance test (approximately 1 hour); but the fee to take test will be waived for Pioneer students. Other documents required to apply for this program will also be waived for Pioneer transfer students.
Our next term begins on August 17th and we are looking at the option of creating an additional cohort for Pioneer students. Additionally, we will continue to offer the majority of our classes online which will minimize the amount of time students will need to come to campus.
We will be scheduling virtual information sessions on July 14 and July 16 for students who were currently attending the Nursing Program, and will continue to offer additional information sessions over the next few weeks.
We will be offering virtual information sessions on July 15 and the following week for students who were currently attending the Medical Assisting Program and will continue to offer additional sessions over the next few weeks for this program as well.
If you are interested in attending please send an email to Pioneer Pacific Transfer and a link will be sent to you for the session.
If you know other classmates looking at options as well please feel free to pass on this information.
Once the transfer agreement is in place we will post additional information on our website.
Thank you again for contacting us and I hope we are able to support your educational goals.
Please email Pioneer Pacific Transfer you have any additional questions at this time.
Warm Regards,
Joanna Russell
President
