Full Job Description
Position: Skills Lab Assistant – Nursing Program (In Person)
Supervisor: Senior Administrative Assistant
Job Description:
The Skills Lab Assistant performs a wide variety of tasks in the Nursing Program Skills Laboratory including maintaining equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies and media preparation. The lab assistant plays a critical part, ensuring all labs start on time by setting up all labs according to the instructor’s requirements prior to the actual start of the lab class.
Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Caregiver, other medical field experience considered
- Some experience working in a medical lab or office
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite
Duties:
- Communicate with the faculty member to determine materials and equipment needed for each lab class
- Test all laboratory equipment before the start of each class to ensure that they are working and if not securing a replacement
- Set up the lab with all the necessary items prior to the start of each lab class
- After each lab class, clean and sanitize the room including lab apparatus
- Maintain the inventory of the lab equipment and materials and ordering when needed
- Assist with uniform fittings and disbursement of uniforms to students
- Assist with packaging and disbursing laboratory equipment for students each term as
