It’s Teacher Appreciation Week! Today we honor, Sumner College’s Dr. John Farrell & Gabby Carrillo.

From navigating online classroom to supporting students with no internet connection, this year, teachers across the nation have been stepping up in greater ways due to the coronavirus pandemic. Everyone, even businesses, has taken notice.

For Teacher Appreciation Week, which began May 4 and extends through May 8, Sumner College honors our outstanding teachers who are making an impact on the nurses of the future.

Thank you Dr. John Farrell & Gaby Carrillo! Here are some quotes from your happy students and colleagues:

Dr. John:

  • “Excellent teacher, goes the extra mile to ensure students fully understand material.”
  • “He has played an instrumental role in the success of the MA Program. His outgoing, humorous personality together with his student-centered approach and dedication to teaching, makes him one of a kind. The students enjoy his teaching style and I am blessed and grateful to have him on our team.”

Gabby:

  • “She always highlights what you do right and very kindly shows you how to do better. She’s always in a good mood and smiling which makes it a happy and good environment to be willing to learn!”
  • “Gabby has been the absolute best instructor/director I have ever had. She’s passionate, stern, and energetic in her teaching methods. She is kind hearted, encouraging and never lets me give up. She’s very patient when teaching new skills, and always donating her body to the student to poke and prod at for practice. She has been my biggest cheerleader throughout this MA program, and I feel so fortunate to have learned from her. Because of her, I am confident my new career will be a success. Thank you Gabby!”
